Briggs & Stratton 21R8070062B5CC0001 | 3130 PowerBuilt™ OHV Vertical Crankshaft Engine (13HP)
The Briggs & Stratton 3130 PowerBuilt is a 13HP, 344cc single-cylinder petrol engine aimed squarely at ride-on mowers, lawn tractors and garden machinery that puts in regular work through the cutting season. With 9.9kW gross output and 22.75Nm of torque at 3600rpm, it has enough grunt for domestic mowing and light grounds maintenance without being oversized for the job.
OHV Design
The overhead valve layout positions the valves in the cylinder head rather than the block, which shortens the combustion path and improves thermal efficiency. In practical terms this means the engine uses less fuel for the same output and generates less heat at sustained running speeds — useful on a machine that may be covering large areas in a single session.
ReadyStart™ Automatic Choke
The ReadyStart system uses a temperature-sensing mechanism to automatically adjust the fuel-to-air mixture at the carburettor, removing the need to prime or manually set a choke before starting. It operates reliably between 0°C and 49°C, covering the range of temperatures you'd typically encounter during the UK mowing season.
Cast-Iron Cylinder Sleeve
The cylinder bore is lined with cast iron rather than left as bare aluminium. Cast iron holds its shape better under heat and repeated use, which keeps the bore round and the piston rings sealing properly over the long term. On a domestic machine that gets regular seasonal use rather than daily commercial work, this is what separates an engine that lasts a decade from one that doesn't.
Electric Start & 9-Amp Charging System
Turn the key and it starts. The electric starter is backed by a 9-amp charging system that tops the battery up during operation. This also means the system can comfortably handle the electrical draw from an electric PTO, headlights or any other 12V accessories the machine runs.
Built-In Fuel Pump
A mechanical fuel pump draws petrol from the machine's tank to the carburettor. On ride-on mowers the fuel tank sits remote from the engine rather than gravity-feeding it directly, so a pump is a standard requirement rather than an optional extra.
AVS® Anti-Vibration System
Single-cylinder engines produce more vibration than multi-cylinder units by nature of how they fire. The AVS system uses a counterbalancing mechanism to smooth this out, reducing what the operator feels through the seat and steering and lessening the fatigue on the machine's frame over time.
Fitment & Compatibility
The vertical crankshaft is 25.4mm (1 inch) in diameter and 80.19mm (3.15 inches) in length — a configuration used across a broad range of ride-on mower and lawn tractor brands. If you're unsure whether this engine suits your machine, contact us with your original engine's Model, Type and Code numbers and our staff will confirm compatibility.

Excellent customer service
I had a relatively small issue with my ride on mower and initially it seemed the replacement part was no longer available. Nick went above and beyond in finding a work around for the issue and sourcing a part which resolved the problem. I have been very impressed by the efforts made to sort what would have been a low value transaction for the company. Thank you for excellent customer service.

10 out of 10
For dogged pursuit of a small but scarce part for my Hayter Hayterette, Jodie at Garden Tractor Spares deserves full marks. Took a while but she got there in the end. Kept me informed throughout and was very supportive when I began to wonder if it was ever going to arrive. Definitely use them again and will recommend to others. Well done!

Sales advise that is honest
i have little patience nor understanding of garden machinery, i just know i have not a lot of time or patience to keep the brambles, nettles and related in the horse feilds down. and the dreaded ragwort. i tasked the sales folk on the best machine, they advised, and next day a 50 inch zero turn was delivered. excellent service.

Very competitive, reliable and highly recommended
Ordered a solenoid for a Simplicity Regent and picked it up next day. Genuine OEM part boxed for £19. Nearer £40 from Briggs and Stratton store with delivery. I've used them once before for a V-belt. Good honest company and highly recommended. Only regret is that I was in such a hurry I didn't stop and chat with the nice gentleman who handed me the part. Next time perhaps. Alan Murphy.
